In order to message a journalist, you will need a paid subscription and an active BowerKit. Without a BowerKit to talk about, you won’t be able to contact journalists through BowerBird. This ensures that journalists are only contacted when there is content available.

However, you can create a BowerKit for an unfinished project and send to journalists if you are looking to gauge interest — this is what we call a 'lead'. You will still need a paid subscription to do this.
